Salvador Bahia airport

Salvador Bahia airport

On completion of a call for tenders initiated by ANAC (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil), VINCI Airports was awarded the Salvador International Airport concession in March 2017. VINCI Airports signed the Concession Agreement on July 28 of the same year, covering the operation, maintenance and expansion of the existing terminal and the upgrading of the runway system. Early 2018, VINCI Airports officially became the operator of Salvador airport, its first concession in Brazil.

Since then, Salvador Airport has incorporated global operational standards, seeking to offer more efficiency, security and a better travel experience for its passengers. With an investment of around 200 million euros in works to modernize and expand the terminal, it has increased its capacity by 50%, serving up to 15 million passengers a year.

Since joining the VINCI Airports network in 2018, the airport is regularly rewarded for the many virtuous initiatives it has implemented in the areas of greenhouse gas reduction, energy efficiency, conservation of natural resources and biodiversity.

Salvador Bahia Airport has been recognized by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) as the “Most Sustainable Airport in Brazil” for three consecutive years – 2019, 2020 and 2021. It has also received the “Via Viva” Award, from the Ministry of Infrastructure, three times, and the “Green Airport” Award, from Airport Council International, both in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Guided by VINCI Airports’ global strategy, the airport stands out for its pioneering environmental preservation actions. It was the first in Brazil to: reuse 100% of the water consumed, not dispose of solid waste in landfills, have a solar power plant – with 4.2 MW of power, achieve ACA level 3 and receive ISO 14001 environmental certification.
