In June 2024, VINCI Airports announces the acquisition of a 20% stake in the concession company for Budapest Airport, Ferenc Liszt International Airport, and becomes the operator of the platform.
The remaining duration of the concession is more than 55 years, expiring in 2080.
As the platform operator, VINCI Airports will manage the platform and deploy its model, which aims to improve the customer experience and support traffic growth through appropriate investment.

The airport is located approximately 16 km southeast of the city center of Budapest, the country’s capital.
With more than 17.5 million passengers welcomed in 2024 and nearly 300,000 tonnes of air cargo, Budapest International Airport is the largest and busiest in Hungary, the twelfth most touristy country in Europe and plays a key role as a regional hub.

The airport is the main base of the Hungarian airline Wizz Air founded in 2003.

Ferenc Liszt National Airport was voted the best European airport in 2022 among airports with 15-25 million passengers, based on passenger feedback. Budapest Airport also holds the title of best airport in the region, as recognized by Skytrax in 10 consecutive years from 2014 to 2023, also based on passenger ratings.

An ambitious action plan will also be rolled out to achieve net zero emissions by 2030 (scopes 1&2) while also acting on scope 3.

Budapest Airport donates more than 20 million HUF from the proceeds of the 13th annual Runway Run On 20 September, Budapest Airport hosted its 13th annual Runway Run charity race, with more than 1,100 athletes taking part. The event raised over 20 million HUF, which Budapest Airport – operated by VINCI Airports – donated equally to two charitable organisations: the Save Lives Foundation, supporting the recovery of children with serious illnesses, and the SUHANJ! Autumn peak: Budapest Airport handled nearly 1.8 million passengers and set an annual record in cargo✈️ The arrival of autumn has not dampened enthusiasm for travel; in fact, despite the cooler weather and the start of the school year, passenger numbers at Ferenc Liszt International Airport continued to soar. In September 2025, Budapest Airport recorded passenger traffic of 1,795,548 exceeding last summer’s monthly figures and representing an 8.4% increase over the same period last year. Most passengers chose London, Tel Aviv and Istanbul as their destination in the first month of autumn. Budapest Airport handled 36,986 tons of cargo in September, representing a 36.8% increase compared to the ninth month of last year. The results achieved in the cargo segment are even more impressive for the entire period from January to September; the 307,760 tons of cargo not only exceeded the 2024 figure by 45.3%, but also surpassed last year’s total annual cargo volume and the dream threshold of 300,000 tons. #budapestairport #VINCIAirports
